What drives the work we do

Before we open a door we ask to see that it is yours. Some customers are surprised by the question; most are relieved once they think it through. A locksmith who opens anything for anyone is a locksmith nobody should call.

So we check a piece of identification, a lease, an ownership paper or a neighbour who can vouch, and we do it politely because being locked out is stressful enough. The same care runs through the rest of the visit. We explain each step, we leave the frame and finish as we found them, and we make sure the keys in your hand are the only ones that work.

Careful work on every kind of lock.

Commercial doors work harder than residential ones: hundreds of cycles a day, a closer slamming the latch, deliveries propping the back door open in the cold. We specify hardware for that duty, keep closers adjusted so the door actually latches behind people, and make sure exit doors release with a single push and no key. Then we set a schedule so small wear never becomes a lockout.

The key you reach for. The door you come home to. Good locksmith work begins with understanding how you use them.

  • Straight talk about your options. We describe what each choice does and what it asks of you in effort, disruption and future flexibility, so the decision is yours.
  • Work explained as it happens. If you want to watch, we tell you what each step is for. If you would rather make a coffee, we give you the summary at the end.
  • Tidiness as standard. A lock change should not leave a mess. We bring what we need to keep the door area clean and we leave it that way.

How a visit goes

Describe the property, the hardware and what has changed, and the visit starts from what you have seen.

    Understanding the safe

We ask what the safe is for, how it is opened and what has changed: a lost combination, a dead keypad, a bolt that will not retract. Each points to a different approach.

    Opening or repairing carefully

Where a combination can be reset or a keypad replaced, we do that. Where the safe must be opened without its code, we use the method that leaves it usable afterwards.

Setting it up for you again

Once it works we help you choose a new combination or code, show you how to change it later and suggest a sensible place to keep a record.
